City Transportation and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) head Dionisio Abude said that his office in coordination with the security cluster will set up checkpoints potentially in three areas where provincial buses can pick up or load provincial bound passengers outside of the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT).
The city had earlier prohibited buses from loading passengers in any areas outside the DCOTT after a bus bombing incident in Koronadal, South Cotabato last month.
“The first area is in Toril at Gmall because the area is wide. But for the Calinan, and going north, this is still subject for inspection because like the Task Force Davao, we will be setting up tents and personnel will be deployed to inspect the buses and the passengers for safety,” Abude told City Information Office (CIO).
Abude continuously urged drivers to continue observing the policy of loading passengers only in DCOTT for the safety and security of the passengers.
Abude said picking up of passengers outside DCOTT is still suspended.
“For example, in Magsaysay Park and Buhangin, picking up of passengers in those areas is suspended and we have deployed personnel to ensure that the buses will not stop in the area,” Abude added.
He said the city also intends to put signages advising people to go to DCOTT or the soon-to-be-identified bus stops.
