Davao Eagles extend winning streak to 12 after winning over Isabela in PCAP 2022
DAVAO CITY---The veteran-laden Davao City Eagles chess team has extended their winning streak to 12 games after beating Isabela 17-4 on Wednesday in the ongoing 2022 Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) elimination round.

With their winning streak, the Eagles are now one of the top teams in the PCAP tournament.

The team dubbed Davao Chess Wizards joined the PCAP Premier Cup tournament last year as a guest team, where they reached the quarterfinals round.

This year, the team is focused and prepared to win the PCAP crown with a formidable line-up of veteran chess players who carried the city's flag in local, national, and international chess tournaments.

Leading the team is World chess champion for the differently-abled Sander Severino, veteran chess coach Roel Abelgas, former national chess youth champion National Master (NM) Jonathan Tan, DPWH engineer Aglipay Oberio, Panabo City, Davao del Norte NM Henry Lopez, Philippine chess team coach for the differently-abled James Infiesto, Allan Diez, Alexander Lupian, Arnel Iton, Anthony Mosqueda, Cris Yap, Atty. Jong Guevarra, Nap Recosoca, Mary Segara, and former DLSU college chess varsity member Joy Acedo.

With a veteran and strong roster, the Eagles are predicted to barge the PCAP playoffs again this year and go for the crown if luck permits. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
