Sara in her Sara All For You Wednesday (Feb. 9) episode said Eskwela Davao formed part of the city government’s Covid-19 response.
Children whose families lost their sources of income due to the pandemic are the recipients of the said program, she said.
Sara has appointed Norman Baloro, the commissioner for Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PUCP) to manage the program that covers the school year 2020-2021.
Speaking in Sara’s virtual program, Baloro said the city earmarked a P53.590 million fund for Eskwela Davao under the local government support program.
Baloro said the 23,404 students/beneficiaries have entered private and public schools. Of the number 3,031 were kindergarten pupils at P1,000 each; 10,557 Grades 1- 6 elementary pupils at P2,000 each; 5,116 junior high at P3,000 each, and 4,695 senior high at P3,000 each.
Sara said, Eskwela Davao was designed to ease the suffering of parents due to the pandemic and underscores the role of the local government to strengthen the educational system especially in times of crisis.
