Man shot dead in Brgy. Puan in Davao City

A man was shot dead by an unidentified gunman outside an engineering firm in Barangay Talomo Proper, Davao City, on Wednesday morning, August 19.


Police said the victim, identified as Nestor Bustamante, of legal age and a resident of the barangay, was shot at around 9 a.m. after parking his vehicle beside KNGB Engineering in Puan.

According to police, the gunman was onboard an unidentified motorcycle and fled northbound after the shooting.

A worker at the establishment, identified as Kenan Jay Carreon, told police he heard several gunshots and later saw Bustamante lying on the ground outside the establishment.

Bustamante was rushed to Adventist Hospital for medical treatment but was declared dead on arrival at around 9:40 a.m. by his attending physician, Dr. Brylle John Imbo.

The Regional Forensic Unit 11 Scene of the Crime Operations team, led by PCpt. Bernadette M. Cabras, is conducting a parallel investigation, including a post-mortem examination, to determine the cause and manner of death.

Police have yet to identify the gunman and establish the motive for the shooting.
