14 Couples Tie the Knot in Paquibato Mass Wedding on 32nd Araw Celebration
DAVAO CITY — Fourteen couples exchanged vows during a “kasalang bayan” held in Paquibato Proper on Wednesday, March 18, as part of the 32nd Araw ng Paquibato celebration, local officials confirmed.
Of the 14 couples, 12 were joined in civil rites while two couples underwent tribal marriage ceremonies, reflecting the cultural diversity of the upland district.
The mass wedding was officiated by Acting Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II, who led the solemnization rites and congratulated the newlyweds.
Also present during the event was 2nd District Congressman Omar Duterte, who expressed support for programs that strengthen families and community ties.
The kasalang bayan is a regular highlight of the annual celebration, aimed at providing couples—particularly those from remote and underserved communities—access to legal and culturally recognized unions.
Local organizers said the activity not only formalizes relationships but also ensures couples can access legal benefits and protections under the law.
The Araw ng Paquibato marks the founding anniversary of the district, showcasing its heritage, unity, and continued development through various civic and cultural activities.
