“Huwag po kayong mawalan ng pag-asa. Ang gamit po, napapalitan, pero ang buhay ay hindi. A lost life is a lost life forever. Magtulungan lang po tayo, sino ba naman ang magtutulungan kundi tayo kapwa Pilipino,” he said.
Go highlighted Republic Act No. 12076 or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which he also principally authored and co-sponsored, mandating the establishment of safe and disaster-resilient evacuation centers in every municipality and city nationwide.
“Napakalungkot pong makita ang ating mga kababayan na nagsisiksikan sa hindi angkop na lugar, gaya ng eskuwelahan na natitigil ang mga klase ng bata o sa covered courts na wala naman sapat na sanitation,” Go pointed out.
Go also mentioned RA 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Modernization Act, which he principally authored and co-sponsored to enhance the country’s capacity to respond swiftly and effectively to fire and disaster emergencies.
The law mandates a ten-year modernization program for the BFP, providing additional firefighters, modern equipment, and continuous training to improve response time, fire prevention, and rescue operations, particularly in densely populated and high-risk communities.
In addition, he filed Senate Bill No. 192 seeking to establish a Rental Housing Subsidy Program to provide temporary shelter assistance while affected families transition to permanent housing.
Held at Purok 7, Barangay 37-D gym, a total of 42 families received financial assistance along with grocery packs, water containers, shirts, foldable fans, vitamins, and sports equipment such as basketballs and volleyballs intended for the youth in the community from Go's team in coordination with Barangay 37-D Captain Prime Atillo.
Apart from the distribution of basic aid, select beneficiaries received a watch, a jacket, and shoes.
As the affected families begin the process of rebuilding, the visit centered on immediate relief while encouraging sustained coordination among concerned offices to address the needs of displaced residents.
"Bilang inyong Kuya Bong Go, anumang pagsubok ang ating haharapin sa susunod na mga araw, patuloy akong magseserbisyo sa inyong lahat dahil bisyo ko na ang magserbisyo at naniniwala ako na ang serbisyo sa tao ay serbisyo sa Diyos,” Go said.
