DCPO urges crime victims to report incidents to beef up community safety, accurate crime mapping

The Davao City Police Office (DCPO), is urging all residents and community members to immediately report any crime incident to the nearest police station after informing their respective barangay authorities.

DCPO in its repirt said timely reporting is essential to help the DCPO capture the true picture of criminality in every area under its jurisdiction.

"When incidents are properly logged at the police station, investigators and patrol units can respond more swiftly, deploy appropriate resources, and develop targeted solutions that safeguard the community more effectively."

DCPO Acting Director Colonel Mannan Muarip emphasized that the DCPO’s proactive and preemptive interventions are “religiously implemented” to protect the public. These efforts are anchored on the D.A.V.A.O. Framework—Discipline, Action, Virtue, Accountability, and Order—the pillars guiding every police operation and decision, ensuring that law enforcement remains responsive, transparent, and community-centered.

“We can only protect the community effectively when we have accurate information,” Muarip said.

He said every unreported crime is a missed opportunity for justice, and a lost chance to prevent future harm. Your police force stands ready to act—but we need your cooperation.”

The DCPO reiterates that public safety is a shared responsibility. By reporting incidents promptly, residents empower the police to address emerging threats, reduce criminal activities, and keep neighborhoods safe.

"Each report—no matter how small or seemingly isolated—helps complete the larger security picture that enables the DCPO to serve and protect more efficiently, "Muarip said.

The DCPO calls on every Dabawenyo:

If you witness a crime, report it. If you experience a crime, speak up. Your voice protects not only you, but the entire community.

"Together, let us continue building a safer, more peaceful, and more orderly Davao City," the report said.

For emergencies or immediate assistance, please contact your nearest police station or dial 911.
