3 NPA surrender in Misamis Oriental

Three remnants of the Sub-Regional Committee 1 (SRC1) of the North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (NCMRC) of the New People's Army (NPA) surrendered to the government troops following relentless focused military operations in Eastern Misamis Oriental on November 18, 2025.

Philippine Army's 4th Infantry Division based in Cagayan de Oro City reported that the surrenders came after the recent yielding of their Secretary, Zaldy Galamiton alias Shaggy/Poldo, which triggered another wave of voluntary surrenders from NPA remnants under SRC1 of the NCMRC.

This development resulted from the sustained presence and pressure of government forces in the area, carried out through the joint efforts of the 58th Infantry Battalion, 23rd Infantry Battalion, and 28th Infantry Battalion under the supervision of their respective commanders, with the individuals turning over an AR18 rifle along with a magazine loaded with seventeen rounds of ammunition.

Initial custodial debriefing revealed that one of the surrender, Alvin Regidor Redondo with aliases Aklas, Eti, Haisen, and Noah was previously considered a potential successor within their group due to his noted capabilities, as earlier disclosed during a prior interview.

They are now undergoing further custodial debriefing and documentation at the designated facility in Butuan City.

4th ID Commander, Major General Michele B. Anayron Jr. lauded the achievement of the Stingers Brigade, highlighting that the surrender of these NPA remnants demonstrates the growing trust of former rebels in the government’s peace programs.

Anayron reaffirmed the division’s commitment to supporting those who wish to return to the fold of the law, stressing that the Army will continue to create conditions conducive to peace, development, and lasting stability in the region.
