PDEA destroys over P4-M illegal drugs seized in Davao Region

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Tuesday, November 18 destroyed over P4 million worth of dangerous drugs and essential chemicals (CPECs) at the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes, J. Camus Extension corner Jose Abad Santos Street, Davao City.

The destruction, according to PDEA 11 spokesman Noli Dimaandal is in line with the observance of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week 2025, with the theme “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Kalusugan ay Pinahahalagahan, Droga ay Inaayawan,” and in strict compliance with Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA 11 Director  Edgar Jubay led  the destruction of seized, confiscated, and surrendered illegal drugs a total of P4,020,036.48 excluding the value of expired medicines were destroyed through the  thermal incinerator of Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes.

These substances were broken down into 497.3788 grams of shabu valued at P3,382,175.845; 5,303.8387 grams of marijuana valued at P637,860.64; and expired medicines valued around P3,308.

Dimaandal said the activity was conducted to ensure the proper and lawful disposal of drug evidence and to address public skepticism over the alleged recycling of seized illegal drugs by law enforcement agencies.

The destruction was witnessed by Honorable Marie Estrellita Rojas, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 17, Davao City; representatives from the Department of Justice, Public Attorney’s Office, civil society groups, and members of the media ensuring  full transparency and accountability throughout the process.

PDEA 11 vows remain steadfast in its commitment to upholding the integrity of the government’s anti-drug campaign by safeguarding drug evidence and ensuring its lawful and irreversible destruction.
