The surrender was facilitated through the sustained collaboration between the military, local government units, and other peace partners. The FVEs were presented to Colonel Ronel Manalo, acting Brigade Commander of 1st Mechanized Brigade and Sultan Kudarat Vice Governor Raden C. Sakaluran.
Among the surrendered firearms were a M1 Garand rifle, M203 grenade launcher, M79 grenade launcher, RPG, homemade sniper rifle, and a homemade Ingram SMG with magazine.
Due to operational security, the identities of the surrenderees are withheld. Their surrender is a manifestation of the growing trust in the government’s call for peace and the commitment of the security sector to end local armed conflict.
The 2 Mech Battalion, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Felimax Lodriguito Jr. remains steadfast in its mandate to promote peace, security, and development in the province of Sultan Kudarat and Maguindanao del Sur.
