Santo Tomas LGU registers over 100k individuals inoculated with COVID-19 jabs

DAVAO CITY —The municipal government of Santo Tomas, Davao del Norte registered the most COVID-19 doses administered as it fully vaccinated 120, 236 individuals or 96.77 percent against a total of 124, 255 target population who were eligible to receive the COVID-19 jabs.

Santo Tomas Municipal Information Officer Mart Sambalud in a statement said, the latest regional data from the Department of Health 11 (DOH 11) bared that Santo Tomas town is leading the list of local government units (LGUs) with over 100,000 eligible population who were inoculated with the first or second doses of coronavirus vaccines. 

Sambalud said the top four LGUs are Santo Tomas, Tagum City, Panabo City, and the Island Garden City of Samal (IGACOS) with 120, 236; 262, 642; 186, 808; and 98, 081 doses administered, respectively. 

He said the current vaccination rate was based on the DOH 11 Regional Data as of December 23. 

As of Tuesday, December 28, Santo Tomas logged three new COVID-19 cases and one COVID-19 death. 

In a speech delivered on Monday, Mayor Ernesto Evangelista said that Tomasinos should not be complacent amid a huge number of the town’s population already vaccinated against COVID-19, coupled with a low infection rate. 

“Padayon kita sa pag-comply sa atong mga health protocol para dili na magtaas atong kaso sa COVID-19 ug labaw niini maningkamot kita na daghan pa ang mabakunahan para maproteksyonan nato ang matag-usa,” Evangelista said. 

Evangelista attributed the low infection rate of coronavirus cases in his administration’s “whole-of-LGU-approach” pandemic response especially in detection, contact tracing, quarantine, free medical health care, vaccination, and proactive procurement.
