First District City Councilor Temujin “Tek” Ocampo, chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources of the 20th City Council who authored the resolution said his committee received a letter on July 23 regarding the multiple hazardous dead trees that need to be cut along the whole stretch of Dacudao Avenue.
He sai his committee conducted a hearing on September 30 held at the Sangguniang Panlungsod building following the inspection conducted by the personnel of the City Environment and and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).
Ocampo during the regular session of the city council Thursday (Dec. 5) said it was verified through the inspection report submitted by CENRO that there are 14 assorted standing dead trees and 46 Gmelina trees (Leaf-fall-off) along the Dacudao avenue.
He said, CENRO had already cut down some of the dead trees in the area as reported to him by the agency personnel Christopher Asibal.
Ocampo said there are still dead trees found in the area, whice are posing danger to the public any time.
With this, the CENRO recommended the removal of hazardous trees. However, they need to secure a barangay resolution interposing no objection for the cutting of dead trees in said area.
The members of the City Council unanimously agreed to pass the said resolution interposing no objection for the cutting of dead trees.
The copies of the resolution shall be furnished to Punong Barangay Jovito Salazar, CENRO, Department of Environment and Natural Resources 11 (DENR-CENRO), Davao Light and Power Company (DLPC), including all other offices or departments concerned for their information and guidance.
