Panabo City inaugurates Chess Club venue for city's chess enthusiast on Tuesday

DAVAO CITY---The city government of Panabo in Davao del Norte inaugurated on Monday a chess club located at Panabo Parks and Plaza under the Green Green Green renovation Projects.

The chess club was also officially turned over to the officials of Panabo Knights Chess Club by Sports Development Program Coordinator Gerald V. Capuyan who represented Relampagos in the event.

Capuyan said the chess club is the city's contribution to the chess community who had given the honor to the city in various local, national, and international chess tournaments.

At the moment the city has two National Masters on its fold 12-year-old Christian Gian Karlo Arca and Henry Lopez.

"Atoang tabangan nga ma ampingan ang Chess Club aron daghan pang makapahimulos ani. Naa rami sa City Sports Office kauban si Mayor Relampagos nga mo supporta ninyo sa tanan ninyong kalihokan, reach out lang mo kay atoang storyahan," Capuyan said.

Arena Grandmaster and National chess arbiter Ramil Langamon, the president of Panabo Knights Chess Club is very happy with the gesture of the city of providing them with the chess club venue.

Langamon said the chess club venue is a great way to cultivate further the sport of chess in the city since chess players now have a place to play the sport.

Sources said the project is funded by the  Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on its Green, Green, Green Program which seeks to help local government units create Forest Parks ug Botanical Garden.

Langamon also took time to call on chess enthusiasts to visit the venue if they want to play chess. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
