New PRO 11 director assumes office

DAVAO CITY- Police Brigadier General Nicholas Torre lll assumed office as the new regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 following the turnover of command ceremony held at its headquarters in Buhangin, Davao City on Sunday, June 16.

Before his new assignment, Torre was the head of the Communications and Electronics Service of the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame. 

Torre also served as director of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and Deputy Regional Director for Operations in the National Capital Region Police Office.

He received the assumption order on June 14 as replacement of Brigadier General Aligre Martinez who was relieved from his post due to the failed arrest of Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KoJC) leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and five other co-accused of child abuse and human trafficking  cases.

Torre in his assumption speech hopes to resolve all the things that need  to be resolved and businesses that are still unfinished in Davao Region. 

“I am fully aware of the challenges that I’ll be facing here in the aftermath of the controversies na hindi ko naman pwedeng i-sugar coat ang mga issues na ating nasaksihan sa nakalipas na linggo,” Torre said. 

Torre , who is known for his three-minute response time policy when he was director of QCPD also asked his staff to continue support to the things that are to be done here in Region 11, which he considered the most progressive region in Mindanao.

Torre who was raised in Koronadal, South Cotabato ensures that the mission of the PNP which is to serve and protect will be achieved.

“I would like to reiterate my gratitude to you and I do hope that we can work really to ensure that the mission of the PNP will be attained and that we will have a PNP that is supported by the people, ensuring that the peace and order is maintained,” he said.

The assumption of office ceremony was presided over by Major General Benjamin Silo Jr., commander of the Area Police Command-Eastern Mindanao.

Silo, meanwhile in his message said that PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil introduced several changes in terms of policy that are all intended to improve the quality and the kind of services that they are rendering to the public.

He also assures everyone that whatever issues that the different units in PRO 11 are encountering  do not prevent them from properly enforcing the law and and from heeding the court in delivering the justice for people has been seeking for it.

Silo said he hopes that Torre will enforce more strategies and will strictly observe every provision of existing laws to include criminal procedures in the PNP as this will be their primary priority in the conduct of whatever operations in PRO 11.
