3 groups get financial support from Davao Light, Aboitiz Foundation

DAVAO CITY- The Davao Light and Aboitiz Foundation have extended a total of P2.2 million financial support to three organizations in the city.

Davao Light and Power Co., Inc. (Davao Light) and Aboitiz Foundation Incorporated on Wednesday, Feb. 28 signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to support these organizations namely: Davao Verbum Dei Media Foundation, Inc., Davao Historical Society Inc., and Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

The Davao Dei Media Foundation which is a non-profit organization established to carry out pastoral instruction Communie et Progressio elaborated by the Pontifical Council for Social Communications and Aetatis Novae approved by Pope Paul VI received P100,000 financial support.

The Davao Historical Society, a non-profit organization, also received P100,000 to be used in helping to preserve the culture and heritage of the city.

SPMC,meanwhile, gets P2 million from the Aboitiz group which is expected to fund the project that involves the provision of a Wellness Park at the hospital compound that will serve as a therapeutic and healing environment designed to enhance the overall wellbeing of patients, hospital staff, and visitors.

Davao Light president and Chief Operating Officer Rodger Velasco in his message thanked the sealed partnerships and expressed grateful that they can be of support to the programs of the respective organizations.

Ginggay Hontiveros-Malvar, AEV’s Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer and Aboitiz Foundation’s President also said that the partnerships represent a shared commitment to uplifting the society, nurturing cultural heritage, and enhancing the quality of healthcare services in the region.

“Today, as we gather here to commemorate a significant milestone in our community's journey towards progress and well-being, we, from the Aboitiz Foundation, are reminded of the power of collaboration and collective action to shape a better tomorrow,” Malvar said.
