Soldiers rescue injured, abandoned NPA member after Bukidnon clash

DAVAO CITY- Members of the 48th Infantry Battalion under 10th Infantry Division captured a wounded and abandoned member of the Communist NPA Terrorist (CNT) at Sitio Mahayahay, Barangay Linabo, Quezon, Bukidnon on Saturday, December 30, 2023.

The captured NPA who was identified through his aliases “Martin" or "Ligaw," is a member of the NPA’s Sub-Regional Sentro De Grabidad Peddler, North Central Mindanao Regional Committee (SRSDG Peddler, NCMRC).

Martin sustained gunshot wounds on his left leg and right thigh, leading his comrades to leave him on the battlefield after the clash that transpired on December 27 in the same barangay.

Lieutenant Colonel Gilbert F Gomez, the 48th IB Commanding Officer, said that his troops promptly administered first aid to Martin and transported him to a hospital in Quezon, Bukidnon. He said they are in coordination with the Local Government Unit of Quezon to get medical support for Martin.

Brigadier General Allan D Hambala, 10th Infantry Division Commander, meanwhile, praised the heroism of the 48th IB soldiers for their role in saving the life of the captured rebel.

"The critical point here is that we have saved the life of a fellow Filipino who fell victim to the deceptive ideology of the CTG,” Hambala said.

According to him, the situation exposes the genuine nature of the CTG, revealing that once they no longer have no use in you, they will surely abandon you in the battlefields.
