OPAMINE welcomes PBBM assurance on Mindanao importance

Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao Leo Tereso Magno welcomed the assurance made by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr that his administration is giving importance to what is happening in Mindanao and that the island would continue to benefit from the national government.

In his visit to Davao City on Tuesday, November 14, President Marcos said that any “Mindanao problem” must be addressed by the entire government and not be dismissed as a minuscule matter since whatever concerns Mindanao, concerns the whole country.

President Marcos was scheduled to fly to the United States of America Tuesday to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in San Francisco, California. He however insisted on attending first the 1st BARMM Local Legislative General Assembly held in a hotel in Davao City before flying off to America.

Magno said that this clearly shows that President Marcos is giving utmost importance to Mindanao despite being from Luzon. He said that it gives Mindanao leaders the assurance that Mindanao will not be neglected by the present administration.

“The statement of President Marcos Jr that the Mindanao problem needs the attention of the entire national government is very assuring that his administration would never neglect Mindanao. To this I am very confident that under the Marcos Jr administration, Mindanao would achieve its potential. It’s heartwarming to note that despite coming from Luzon, President Marcos still has Mindanao in his heart and mind,” Magno said.
