Newly elected Brgy Captain shot dead in Davao del Norte

A newly elected village chief in Barangay Datu Abdul in Panabo City, Davao del Norte was allegedly shot dead by an unknown assailant on Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 7).

Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 reported that the victim,   Engineer Paul Albert Saquian was declared dead on arrival by his attending physician Marianne Mae Lorenzo of Rivera Hospital in Panabo City due to multiple gunshot wounds on his body.

Saquian was attacked by two men on board a motorcycle while he was travelling towards his residence from New Visayas on board his car.

The suspects fled towards the city proper after the incident, police said.

Police are currently conducting hot pursuit operation and investigation to determine the motive of the killing and subsequently arrest the suspects.

Meanwhile, Davao del Norte second district Representative Alan “Aldu” Dujali has condemned the killing of Saquian.

“Whether this is politically motivated or not, this senseless killing is unacceptable and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” Dujali said in a statement posted on his FaceBook account.

Dujali has called on the police authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and put those behind this brazen killing to justice.

He said this culture of violence must be stopped and it has no space in a peaceful society like in Panabo City.

“We must denounce any attack on human life and stand together in fighting those who do not want peace to reign in the province".
