Ocampo made the statement during the 7th anniversary of the group recently where he was invited as guest speaker.
He said “in this fast-paced digital age, the power and reach of online content creators cannot be understated as you have the ability to shape opinions, influence perspectives, and drive social change like never before.”
Ocampo said the voices, opinions, and content of the social media influencers have the potential to make a profound difference in the lives of many, and with that influence comes a duty to uphold the values that define us as responsible creators.
“Truth, accuracy, transparency, and sincerity are the cornerstones of impactful content creation,” he said.
“As content creators, your stories and messages have the potential to touch the hearts of your audience, but it is essential to ensure that what you share is rooted in truth and accuracy,” Ocampo further said.
He also encouraged them to verify their sources and do fact-checking of information.
“Do not share fake news, stop spreading misinformation and disinformation,” he said.
Ocampo also urged digital influencers to be honest and transparent as these are the foundation of trust.
“Building a genuine and authentic relationship with your followers will make your advocacy and influence more meaningful and impactful. And if you make a mistake, acknowledge it and learn from it,” Ocampo added.
“On this milestone anniversary, let us reaffirm our commitment to using our influence for the greater good, be the force multipliers of the values of truth, accuracy, transparency, and sincerity,” he said.
