In its recent deliberation, the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC) declared five villages in Davao City namely: Angalan, Callawa, Daliaon Plantation, 28-C, and Brgy. 35-D.
The other three barangays are in Davao Occidental and Davao del Norte. These barangays are Batulan and Sugal of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental and Brgy. Datu Abdul Dadia in Panabo City.
The ROCBDC is composed of officials from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency as chair, Department of Interior and Local Government as vice chair, and Department of Health, Philippine National Police, and local government units as members.
PDEA 11 Information Officer Noli Dimaandal said that the eight barangays were subjected to thorough deliberation before they earned the drug-cleared status.
The Chief of Police of the respective City and Municipal Police Stations, Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council Members and other stakeholders of the respective barangays were also present during the declaration.
In Davao Region, 945 out of 1,162 barangays have been declared as drug-cleared.
