Andrei Padao won the gold medal in lawn tennis singles and the silver medal in mixed doubles.
While he resides in Digos City, Padao regularly practices at the tennis court in Gem Village, Maa, since his head coach, Rollyto Litang, lives in the barangay.
On his way to two medals in Marikina, Padao also got a valuable lesson from Engineer Totoy Chavez, also a Gem Village resident and the former national tennis coach of the Philippine team in the Davis Cup.
With his strong performance in the Palaro, the future of Padao in Philippine tennis is bright. (Romeo Braceos Jr.)
