Davao City Police Office reported that the fire started at the house owned by Gemma Sebastian Delos Reyes, 55 and a resident of the place.
Based on the statement gathered by the police from the house owner, it revealed that at around 6:35 p.m Delos Reyes and his husband Jaime heard lightning and immediately discovered that the rooftop of their house was hit by said lightning that caused fire.
The fire spread out towards the wooden ceiling and burned the second wooden floor towards the ground of said house.
No one was hurt after they were able to get out of their house and called up Central 911 for firefighter assistance.
Bureau of Fire Protection investigator SFO1 Genesis Sitcharon disclosed that the cause of fire was an ignition of light material due to the lightning that resulted to spread out the fire from the second floor of the house down to the ground.
Firefighters declared the fire out at around 8:12 p.m.
Cost of damage was estimated to be more or less P700,000.
