16 more Davao Occidental villages drug-cleared

DAVAO CITY: The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) declared 16 more barangays from Jose Abad Santos town in Davao Occidental as drug-cleared following a series of evaluations and monitoring.

Noli Dimaandal, the spokesman of PDEA 11 told News Fort  that Davao Occidental now has 86 drug-cleared barangays out of the 102 drug-affected barangays in the province.

Dimaandal said only 6 remaining barangays in said town are still  affected by illegal drugs. 

These villages in Jose Abad Santos are Balangonan, Buguis, Bukid, Butuan, Camalian, Carahayan, Cayaponga, Culaman, Kitayo, Magulibas, Mangile, Meybio, Marabatuan, Nuing, Tabayon, and Tanuman.

The barangays underwent rigorous validation by the provincial and regional barangay drug clearing team and were declared by the Regional Oversight Committee as drug-cleared during the deliberation in Barangay Caburan Small Gymnasium, Jose Abad Santos of said province on December 6, according to Dimaandal.

Present during the activity was town Mayor Jayson John A Joyce, members of Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC), Barangay Officials, functionaries and other stakeholders.
