Mindanaoans win silver and bronze in SEA Games Cambodia marathon

DAVAO CITY—Two veteran runners who come from Mindanao won silver and bronze medals in the ongoing Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

Arlan Arbois Jr., a native of Tupi, South Cotabato, captured the silver medal in the men's marathon with a time of 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 27 seconds.

A former Rizal Memorial College Bulldogs athletic varsity team member, Arbois's win is special since it is his first SEA Games appearance.

On the distaff side, Christine Hallasgo, a native of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, took the bronze medal in the women's marathon in 2 hours, 50 minutes, and 27 seconds, behind entries from Indonesia and Vietnam.

The strong performance of the two is attributed to their coach, Eduardo Buenavista, a former SEAG gold medalist. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
