Blu Girls qualify Softball World Cup 2023

DAVAO CITY---The XVIII WBSC Women's Softball World Cup will be held in Europe in July, and the Filipino Blu Girls have qualified for it.

The Filipinas won the top four spots in the Asia Cup in Incheon, South Korea, and the four World Cup slots at stake with a final record of 5-3, securing their place at the renowned competition.

The sport's international governing body recently awarded Asia a wild card seat, which made room for the additional ticket. Previously, only three World Cup spots were staked in the competition.

Even though on Thursday, April 6, the Blu Girls lost 9-1 to the World No. 2 Japanese, who were the top-seeded team,

"I'm so proud of these girls; they trained hard for this and have fought with all their hearts in each game,” said ASAPHIL president Jean Henri Lhuillier.

In the bracket containing the host Ireland, Australia, Botswana, Great Britain, and the United States, the Philippines will be placed if they win.

If they lose, they will be placed in the group with Italy, Canada, New Zealand, and Venezuela.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
