75 ex-NPA rebels in Davao de Oro get P3.97-M cash aid

DAVAO CITY- A total of P3.97 million cash aid were given to the 75 former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) from the different municipalities in Davao de Oro in a ceremony held Wednesday (April 5) at the Provincial Capitol in Barangay Cabidianan, Nabunturan.

The former rebels are the recipients of the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).

1001st Infantry Brigade in its report said that out of the 75 individuals, 57 were former NPA regulars while 18 are former members of the Milisya ng Bayan (MB) who returned to the folds of the law in 2021. Former NPA regulars each received P65,000 while the MBs received P15,000 each.

The financial aid will help the former NPA members start a new life as they re-integrate back to mainstream society.

Governor Dorothy Gonzaga assisted by Colonel Gerry Besana, Deputy Brigade Commander of 1001st Brigade, personally handed over the checks to the beneficiaries.

Alias Axel, the Former Political Instructor of the Dismantled Guerrilla Front-2, which formerly operates in Davao de Oro, particularly in Pantukan-Mabini-Maco-Mawab Complex., thanked for the assistance they received.

“For my former comrades, let us ensure that what we received today will be used properly. It’s just a small amount, but it is a great help for us to start a new life. It’s not for gambling and other vices,” Axel said in vernacular.

Gonzaga, meanwhile, emphasized the sincerity of the government to help the people it served as she encouraged them to fully cooperate with the programs of the government.
