NPA killed in Bukidnon clash

DAVAO CITY- A member of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) died during an encounter with the Philippine Army’s 403rd Infantry Brigade of the 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division in the hinterland of Sitio Maambong, Brgy Tikalaan, Talakag, Bukidnon on March 19.

The military in a report identified the fatality as Rebodin Talha Binongkasan alias Jeg/Longgad/Longgun, assistant team leader of Squad 1 of Platun Ipadof the NPA. 


The encounter between the military troops and 30 fully armed NPA members belonging to  Platun Ipad and Platoon Huawei of the NPA’s SRC-5, NCMRC lasted for about  a 45-minute gun battle.


The government troops also recovered two high-powered firearms, assorted ammunition magazines, medicines and paraphernalia, cellphones, backpack, bandolier, and personal belongings at the encounter site. 

The troops brought the remains of Binongkasan to St. Bernard Funeral Homes, Brgy 3, Talakag, Bukidnon for the proper disposition.

403rd Brigade Commander, Colonel Michelle B Anayron Jr, reiterated his call to the CTG's remnants to surrender.

"We will not allow the communist terrorists to stage atrocities and extortion activities in the province of Bukidnon. As I direct our troops to conduct relentless military operations against these terrorists, I encourage the populace to join our fight by providing us with information about CTG plans and activities,” Anayron said in a statement.
