Based on the data released by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) 11 on Thursday (Mar. 9), the agency recorded P42.3 million cost of damage to infrastructure to include 80 schools in the entire region, 21 roads and bridges, 45 government facilities and private facilities.
The tremors also damaged a total of 352 houses and partially damaged 394 houses.
OCD in its data showed there were seven landslide incidents along roadsides in Davao de Oro.
A total of 61 individuals were recorded to have been injured/ill, with majority of them to have experienced fainting and loss of consciousness.
The government through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has already provided more than P5 million worth of food and non-food items to the affected residents.
The displaced families which totaled to 1,611 are currently staying at 20 designated evacuation centers in Davao de Oro.
Prior to the two quakes on March 7 that hit the municipality of New Bataan, the town had already experienced a 5.3 magnitude earthquake on March 6 at 4:43 a.m.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, meanwhile, visited the earthquake affected towns in said province where he led the distribution of food and financial assistance to the victims.
Gatchalian visited Thursday in Barangay Andap, New Bataan; Barangay Manat, Nabunturan; Barangays Panoraon and New Leyte, Maco; and Barangay Paloc, Maragusan.
