12,000 personnel to secure Araw ng Dabaw:DCPO

Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesman Major Catherine dela Rey said that 80 percent of its personnel including police auxiliary will be deployed during the whole duration of 86th Araw ng Dabaw.

Speaking at the AFP-PNP Press Corps briefing Wednesday (March 1) at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, dela Rey said that a maximum deployment of police personnel will be enforced to ensure the safety and security of Araw ng Dabaw.

She said a total of 12,000 security forces from DCPO, Task Force Davao, force multipliers, and other law enforcement and security clusters will be deployed for a peaceful and successful Araw ng Dabaw.

The bulk of deployment, she said, will be on March 18 during Parada Dabawenyo.

DCPO is thankful to the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 for providing more than 400 personnel as augmentation force.

The public is reminded of the do’s and don’ts in all event areas.

“Bawal ang backpack, umbrella, non- transparent bottle containers, stuffed toy, and any bladed and pointed objects,” she said.

She also asks the public to follow all protocols in the culture of security.

Captain Mark Anthony Tito, spokesman of Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division based in Mawab, Davao de Oro in the same press conference, meanwhile, said that the command has already deployed 6 platoons to also augment the security clusters.

He said apart from the manpower, 10th ID also provides other fighting vehicles and this will be visible in the city.

“We also have one ready reserve battalion, a reserved force from 11th RCDG,”Tito said.
