312 flood-hit families in Carmen, Davao del Norte get aid

DAVAO CITY- The provincial government of Davao del Norte has provided aid to the 2,312 families affected by the recent flooding incident in Carmen, Davao del Norte due to heavy downpour caused by localized thunderstorms.

Governor Edwin Jubahib immediately dispatched the personnel and responders from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) with the province’s three rescue trucks, ambulance and rubber boats to rescue and to provide aid to the affected families. 

Citing a report from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Carmen LGU, a total of 2,312 families or 8,121 individuals from nine barangays were affected by the flood.

The affected barangays are Mabuhay, Alejal, New Camiling, Ising, Asuncion, Taba, Mangalcal, Tuganay, and Cebulano. 

To assist the affected families, the provnce conducted water rationing and provided family tents and hot meals. Portable shelters and a water tank were also provided by the provincial government. The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) is also preparing food packs for all the affected families.

A total of 92 families were evacuated to Carmen’s municipal evacuation center. 

The governor said he is closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected families, assuring the constituents that it will continue to provide aid and support until the situation is fully resolved.
