The suspect is Edwin Pactor Loon Sr, a Brgy. Chairman and a resident of Purok 3, Mansanitas, Brgy. Bonifacio, Kiblawan, Davao del Sur.
The arrest of Loon came by virtue of a search warrant for violation of Republic Act (R.A.) 10591 issued byJudge Carfelita B. Cadiente-Flores, Executive Judge, Branch 61, Digos City, Davao del Sur dated January 12, 2023.
The search warrant was served by the personnel of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
The operating team composed of CIDG Davao del Sur Provincial Field Unit alongside other PNP operating units recovered a Beretta caliber 9mm pistol; 3 magazine; 27 caliber 9mm ammunition, and a black sling bag.
Another person, Arias Zambo Alfredo, 67, a farmer was also arrested in the same place.
Alfredo was caught in possession of an M1 Garand Rifle; M16 A1 Rifle; magazines; bullets; and bandoliers.
Arrested persons and seized items were brought to the CIDG Davao del Sur for documentation and were subsequently turned over to Kiblawan Municipal Police Station for detention.
A case for violation of Republic Act (RA ) 10591, or the the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act is being prepared for filing at the Office of the City Prosecutor, Digos City.
CIDG 11 acting director Lieutenant Colonel Jovit Culaway said his office
will continue to strengthen the implementation of firearms law.
Culaway vows to suppress the proliferation of loose firearms in the region which according to him frequently used by criminals and lawbreakers.
