Bong Go’s team mounts two-day relief ops for disadvantaged residents in San Isidro, Davao Oriental

In light of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s commitment to support his fellow Filipinos to the best of his capacity, especially during crisis situations, he provided assistance to more indigent residents during a two-day relief effort in San Isidro, Davao Oriental on November 17 and 18.

“Magtulungan lang po tayo, mga kababayan ko. Ginagawa naman po ng gobyerno ang lahat, binabalanse ang ekonomiya, at importante po ang kalusugan at buhay ng bawat Pilipino,” reassured Go in his video message.

“Magbayanihan po tayo, magmalasakit po tayo sa ating kapwa Pilipino. Sino ba namang magtutulungan kung hindi tayo lang po kapwa nating mga Pilipino,” he added.

His outreach team distributed shirts, masks, vitamins, and snacks to a total of 3,200 residents at the municipal gymnasium. They also provided select beneficiaries with shoes, cellular phones, bicycles, watches, and balls for basketball and volleyball.

Meanwhile, representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided financial assistance as part of the government’s efforts to mitigate the pandemic's adverse effects.

Go, who heads the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, also offered help to those in need of hospital care. He advised them to visit Davao Oriental Provincial Medical Center in Mati City where there is a Malasakit Center ready to assist them.

Bringing together concerned agencies, such as the DSWD, Department of Health, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, the Malasakit Center aims to reduce the patient’s bill to the lowest possible amount by covering various services and fees. Go is the principal author and sponsor of Republic Act No. 11463. There are now 152 Malasakit Centers established nationwide.

The senator likewise committed to support the establishment of four Super Health Centers in the province which will offer basic health services, such as out-patient, birthing, isolation, diagnostic (laboratory: x-ray, ultrasound), pharmacy, and ambulatory surgical unit.

Other available services are eye, ear, nose, and throat (EENT) service; oncology centers; physical therapy and rehabilitation center; and telemedicine.

As Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, Go also extended his support to numerous projects, such as the rehabilitation of roads in several barangays, installation of solar LED lights along the National Road in Brgy. Bagumbayan, construction of potable water systems in Brgy. Bagumbayan, construction of a flood mitigation structure along Sumlog River, and the construction of IP Community Learning Center in Brgy. Don Mariano in Lupon.

“Alam ko pong mahirap ang panahon ngayon pero magtiwala lang ho kayo sa gobyerno. Kayo po ang nagbibigay ng lakas sa amin upang makapagserbisyo pa po sa abot ng aming makakaya para malampasan natin ang krisis at sana po’y makabalik na tayo sa ating normal na pamumuhay,” he ended.

On October 24, Go’s team assisted fire victims in Mati City.
