The program dubbed “Pahalipay sa Lumad’ is a yearly activity of the city to give different fun and community-based activities for the members of the tribes, especially the children.
Food packs, gifts, and basic services would also be given to members of the Indigenous People communities, allowing them to experience the so-called ‘Christmas spirit’ of generosity and thanksgiving.
Julie P. Dayaday, Supervising Administrative Officer IV of CSWDO in an interview over the Davao City Disaster Radio on Thursday (Nov. 10) said they are now preparing food and grocery packs to be delivered to Marilog, Paquibato, and Baguio District.
She said that they already considered weather disturbances that may affect the transportation of the food packs.
She said the activity will commence in the first week of December. However, in a meeting with the security cluster, they have agreed to deliver the food packs earlier to hard reach areas due to weather conditions while the distribution of the food packs wil be set on December.
“Wala na gyud sila nanaog kay kita na gyud sa siyudad sa Davao ang nagsaka pagpanghatod sa ilahang food packs,” Dayaday said.
Dayaday confirmed IP visitors from other provinces are now in the city’s downtown area.
She said her office will have a coordination meeting with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and representatives of various municipalities with IP communities such as Sta. Cruz in Davao del Sur and Agusan.
The governor of Davao del Norte, Edwin Jubahib and his Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer (PSWDO) will also be joining the coordination meeting.
“Kay naa sila diri sa Davao, nakita nato nga naay mga bata, ang atong concern kay basin mangaligsan, walay proper ang ilang pagtulog and hygiene so mao nang pagahisgutan sa amoang coordination meeting,” she said.
Dayaday, meanwhile, said organized sectoral groups will also receive their pahalipay.
“Para sa sectoral ang amoang guidelines ana kay didto gyud ta sa organized,” she said.
