Armed with a warrant of arrest (WOA), the operatives arrested the suspect identified as alias Ben, 25, a resident of Purok Malinawon, barangay Ilangay in Lupon, Davao Oriental.
Judge Cresenciana dela Cruz of Branch 3 of the Regional Trial Court in Nabunturan, Davao de Oro issued the WOA with no bailbond recommended dated September 6, 2022 against the suspect for violation of Article 248 (Murder) of the Revised Penal Code.
The suspect who is alleged member of Sevillano Criminal Gang was arrested through CIDG’s Oplan Salikop around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 2).
Authorities said Ben is top 2 most wanted person in the municipal level in Davao de Oro and involved in gun-for-hire, gun-running, and other criminal activities operating within Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, and Davao Oriental.
Provincial CIDG Field Unit head Lieutenant Colonel Milgrace Driz said the suspect attempted to pull out a handgun from his black sling bag, prompting the operatives to open fire.
Seized from the suspect were a 9MM Armscor pistol, magazine, and several bullets.
Criminal complaints for violations of Republic Act 10591 are being prepared against him.
Driz said CIDG is relentless in helping the service of WOAs against elusive criminals.
“We uphold to serve the public especially those who are victims of the criminal activities and eventually help also to facilitate through immediate apprehension for the speedy judicial process of the accused,” Driz said.
