Department of Education (DepEd) 11 spokesman Jenielito Atillo said that all systems go for the full implementation of the full-blast in person classes in public and private schools.
Atillo however said, private schools are given the prerogative to employ the face-to-face learning modality or to continue on with the alternative learning modalities as enumerated in their latest policy.
Speaking at the AFP-PNP Press Corps briefing at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, last Wednesday (Oct. 26), Atillo said private schools can still go blended, or they can have even five-day face-to-face or full online depending on their choice.
Data from DepEd 11 showed that around 1,206,291 public school learners in the region will be going back to the schools, while for private schools a total of 136,236 learners are expected who either will be in face- to-face mode or in blended or in full online mode.
“Let us not worry about the implementation of the very strict protocols because that is one major requirement actually. This is the number one requirement that we require from public schools and even private schools, the strict implementation of the health and safety protocols,” Atillo said.
Atillo further said there are private schools which decided to employ the face to face learning modality because parents have requested for it as their children want to go out already from their homes and mingle with everybody.
“Many parents really wanted that the face- to-face will be implemented, that is why they seek for schools implementing the face-to-face learning modality,” he said.
Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) head Angel Sumagaysay, meanwhile, said the city is actually in close coordination with the DepEd , Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Task Force Davao, and Civil Security Unit (CSU), including the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) to secure the opening of the full-blast F2F classes.
The city is also ready to implement the “Oplan Balik Eskwela,” Sumagaysay said.
Sumagaysay assures that the city is deploying security personnel not only in the poblacion but even other far-flung areas like Marilog and Paquibato Districts.
Task Force (TF) Davao, on the other hand, is currently in close coordination with the PSSCC and the DCPO as millions of Davaoeño students will once again troop to schools for the resumption of classes.
“Task Force Davao is ready for the opening of the face- to-face classes in Davao City. In fact magiging vissible ang inyong Task Force Davao sa major thoroughfares as well as sa mga school premises kung saan ang mga kabataan papasok,” Comia said.
As part of their initiative, Comia said that TF Davao is now crafting a culture of security video clips intended for learners.
“I just want to inform everyone that we have this initiative although it’s in the conceptualization phase. In fact we are already crafting a culture of security video clips intended for learners to suit our target audience,” he said.
The initiative is in collaboration with the DepEd and this culture of security video clip is targeting elementary students as well as high school students, according to Comia.
“We need to inculcate in the minds, hearts, and souls of the youth to carry a culture of security as they grow old,” he added.
Comia said he hopes that it will be finalized soon so that the culture of security will be propagated to the young generations.
Comia vowed to sustain the efforts in propagating the culture of security to all residents in the city.
