Dano, a resident of Digos City, Davao del Sur, ruled the open division of the tournament participated in by some of the top chessers in Mindanao.
Aton, a resident here and organizer of chess tournaments, rules the tournament's blitz, or speed chess, category.
Aside from Dano and Aton, two others were declared champions in the tournament: Jim Briken Diabakid ruled the kids' division, and Sherwin Orbeta won the class b category.
The winners got trophies, cash prizes, and certificates as prizes.
The tournament was organized by Kajoy Acedo, a former varsity chess player at Dela Salle University.
Jogen Palero, Richard Togonon, Ely Acas, and Alfred Moulic served as arbiters in the tournament.(Romeo Braceros Jr.)
