PSC backs resumption of national athletes’ training in 2022

DAVAO CITY---The Philippine Sports Commission Board has approved to resume the training of selected national teams not earlier than January 10, 2022, at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (Manila City), Philsports Complex (Pasig City), and Baguio Training Camp (Baguio City).

This resumption is dependent on the provision of many considerations for safety before final implementation.

The agency is now evaluating viable facilities which may be used in the said training.

Ongoing coordination with the MPA-IATF in Philsports, Pasig, and the Baguio City local government unit is being done to ensure that all safety measures are taken for the protection of our national team members.

Concurrently, dormitory repairs are being done on damages caused by rain which were discovered upon inspection by the PSC Engineering team.

The Board has also provisionally approved the health-safety guidelines developed by the PSI-MSAS to be implemented in all training areas, with the addition of and improvement on certain provisions. The guidelines are based on the PSS-GAB-DOH Joint Administrative Order No. 2020-0001.

The PSC has created a Technical Working Group task to do the necessary preparations, including the finalization of sports which may be accommodated in said facilities.

All concerned national sports associations will be directed to submit their own health-safety protocols for approval of the PSC Medical Unit.

A no vaccine-no entry policy will be one of the strict requirements in the said training resumption. (Romeo Braceros Jr.)
