Go reminds public to comply health protocols, get vaccinated amid increasing COVID cases

Senate Committee on Health chairman Senator Christopher "Bong" Go urged the public not to get complacent and reemphasized the importance of getting vaccinated and boosted amid the rise in the number of active COVID-19 cases in the country.

“Mayroon ngang naiulat na 2,074 new infections of COVID-19 at hindi pa kasama diyan ‘yung mga hindi idini-declare,” Go said in an ambush interview after providing assistance to indigent residents of Davao City on Thursday (July 21).

“Maaaring ito na po ‘yung pagko-cope up natin sa makabagong normal natin na tini-treat na nila na isa sa mga common colds o sakit ang COVID-19,” Go said.

Go , meanwhile continues to urge Filipinos to get vaccinated and boosted even though the country may be on its way to treating the virus like a common cold.

The more we should intensify our vaccination efforts,” he added.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier said active COVID-19 infections in the country have breached the 22,000-mark at 22,207. This increased the total number of cases in the Philippines to 3,741,987, with 3,659,139 recoveries and 60,641 fatalities.

Among all regions in the country, Metro Manila has the most number of active cases with 10,636, followed by CALABARZON with 6,167, and Central Luzon with 2,821.
