A young Davaoeño entrepreneur is Rotary Club of Davao’s new president

Last July 7, the Rotary Club of Davao inaugurated into office its new set of officers with Lester Jones Suarez, 30, as the club’s president.

Suarez, a young entrepreneur, is the youngest president of the oldest Rotary Club in Davao and in Mindanao. He owns the pioneering Bevanda Mobile Bar, commonly known as the “Mother Club”, in the city.

The 84th Induction of Officers and Hand-over Ceremonies for Rotary Year 2022-2023 was held at the Dusit Thani Hotel grand ballroom with former Secretary of the  Office of the Presidential Peace Adviser Lawyer  Jesus Dureza as the guest of honor and speaker.

The event was attended by the Rotary District officers, presidents, and secretaries of various Rotary Clubs in Davao City, guest Rotarians from other regions, and former RCD presidents.

The induction rites highlighted the oath taking of 13 new member-recruits, most of them young entrepreneurs representing various membership classification.

Past Presidents Pepsi Velez, Ruben Robillo, Frank Bono, and Sam Labang likened the colorful event to a District Conference with its grandiose setup spearheaded by the new set of officers.

Performing in the events were the Davao City National High School Choir, the Echoistic Band, the University of Mindanao Cadets, and singer Aubrey Magbanua.

It can be remembered how the Rotary Clubs in Davao virtually went into hibernation following the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with the easing of the COVID situation, they are starting to reboot most of their activities.
