3 ranking NPA rebels surrender in Gingoog City

DAVAO CITY – Two alleged leaders of the communist New People’s Army (NPA) and a medic surrendered to the Philippine Army’s 58th Infantry Battalion at Sitio Anahaw, Brgy Bantaawan, Gingoog City on July 1.

402nd Brigade Civil Military Operations Officer First Lieutenant Claudine Robledo identified the surrenderers as couple Neiljan Legaspino, 29, and Ariel Compas, 27; and Golden Romania Compas Sr., 42.

Golden who is a political guide of Platoon Falcon, Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) revealed to the military that he was deceived by the false promises of the communist terrorists group (CTG) prompted him to return to the folds of law. 

Legaspino,on the other hand, is the vice commanding officer also in said group and his wife, who is a medic, voluntarily surrendered due to the hardships and deception they had experienced from the communist terrorists group (CTG). 

The three rebel returnees also turned over an M16 improvised; magazines ammunitions; Improvised Explosive Device (IED); two Blasting Caps, and ten meters detonating cord.  

They are currently under the custody of 58th IB and would be enrolled in the government's Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP).
