“He reminds me of a young Dondon Hontiveros,” Ariel Vanguardia said in an article on Tiebreaker Times.
Vanguardia said the sky is the limit for Suerte if he plays hard always.
“It’s a good debut for him, and I expect him to do even better,” Vanguardia.
Hontiveros is a retired player from Cebu City who got the nickname Cebuano hotshot for being a deadly shooter and clutch player in the PBA.
Earlier, despite being just a rookie, Suerte showed some talent with his penetrations and outside sniping but sadly his team still suffered a defeat.
“First to third, medyo suwerte pa ‘yung nilalaro namin. Pero nung fourth quarter, medyo kinapos ‘yung suwerte. Minalas,” Suerte told reporters after the game.
Suerte, a former player of the University of Mindanao Wildcats Ponciano campus recently signed a two-year deal with the Bossing.
Sources said Suerte and his manager agreed to sign the deal worth P200,000 a month in the first year and P250,000 a month in the second year.
Suerte, a former University of Mindanao Davao City campus college basketball varsity played well in the recent Gilas wins against Thailand in Manama, Bahrain last year.
Suerte made a name for himself when he transferred to Cebu City and played for the University of Visayas Green Lancers.
